I’m always looking for small changes that make everyday life a little less chaotic.
Recently, I started exploring the Shortcuts app on my iPhone, and I quickly realized something… automation isn’t just for tech experts. It can save time, reduce mental clutter, and help us remember the little things that tend to slip through the cracks.
This all started because, thanks to my lovely ADHD, I could never remember if I’d taken my morning medication. I’d stand there staring at the bottle thinking, “Did I already take it… or am I about to take it twice?”
I’ve tried the weekly pill organizer, and honestly, it worked… until I forgot to refill it. Then I was right back to taking my medicine from the bottle and second-guessing myself every morning.
I looked at medication tracking apps too, but on a busy morning, opening an app, waiting for it to load, and checking off a box was just one step too many.
So I started looking for a better solution.
Now I have a small NFC sticker tucked inside my medicine cabinet. When I take my medication, I simply tap my phone to it. That’s it. It automatically adds a timestamped entry to a note on my phone, so later, if I can’t remember, I have my answer in seconds.
Simple. Fast. Almost impossible to forget because the sticker is exactly where I need it.
If you’d like to create this for yourself, I’ve included an easy-to-follow screen recording below that walks you through exactly how I set it up. My hope is that you can have it up and running in just a few minutes.
The only thing you need is a pack of inexpensive NFC tags. If you’re looking for the same ones I used, you can find them here. (Affiliate link at no additional cost to you; I may earn a small commission if you make a purchase. Thanks for supporting Just Love and Chaos!) https://amzn.to/4xlrMdx
It’s a tiny change, but those tiny changes add up.
Life gets busy, and anything that takes one more decision off our plate is a win in my book.
This is just the beginning.
I’ll be sharing more simple automations, Shortcuts, and everyday tech hacks that can help make life run a little smoother. None of them require you to be “good with technology”just willing to let your phone do a little more of the work.
If you’re looking for practical ways to simplify your day, keep checking back. I have plenty more life hacks coming!
Here’s to letting technology remember the little things, so you don’t have to.
